Prepare

Running ChickensThis is a family-oriented race day where friendly competition and words of encouragement are smiled upon. While we want you to do your best and have fun, that means you should take care to properly prepare yourself for these challenging courses.

Muddy RunnerIf you need a guided training plan, there is a great one online (fee-based) from CoolRunning.com, including:

Running ChickenBeginners 5K Plan: A training schedule for beginning runners who want to start racing the 5K race distance.

Running ChickenIntermediate 5K Plan: A training schedule for intermediate runners who want to improve performance in the 5K race distance.

Running ChickenAdvanced 5K Plan: A training schedule for advanced runners who want to improve performance in the 5K race distance.

Running ChickenCompetitive 5K Plan: A training schedule for competitive runners who want to improve performance in the 5K race distance.

Be sure to train in the shoes you’ll be using to run the race. Your shoes should have a sturdy support and good gripping tread on the bottom, as the course does include muddy spots which can be slippery. Be mindful that this is a farm and the terrain will not be smooth.

There are live animals on this farm, so watch for crazy chickens on the loose.

Also, don’t forget your sunscreen, water bottle (maybe even lip balm) and a towel for the ride home ;-).
